VISIT REPORT: VISIT BY THE TAMIL NADU DR. AMBEDKAR LAW UNIVERSITY TO NS BAR SECRETARIAT AND VISIT TO THE SEREMBAN COURT COMPLEX

On 11 April 2025 (Friday), the Negeri Sembilan Bar Committee had the pleasure of hosting a delegation from The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, India, at the Seremban Court Complex. The visit was part of a collaborative program organized with the Faculty of Law, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), aimed at providing international law students of an exposure to the Malaysian legal system.

The visiting group consisted of 2 lecturers and 20 law students who were in Malaysia for a one-week academic visit to UKM, from 7 to 13 April 2025. As part of the program, the Faculty of Law UKM proposed a court visit to enhance the students’ understanding of Malaysia’s judiciary and legal practices.

During the visit, representatives from the Negeri Sembilan Bar led By the Chairman Mr Karthig Shan and Committee members , along with court officials, welcomed the students and provided them with a comprehensive briefing on the structure and functions of the Malaysian courts. The students were then given a tour of the Seremban Court Complex and had the opportunity to observe live court proceedings. A Q&A session was also conducted to address their questions and encourage meaningful engagement.

The Negeri Sembilan Bar Committee is proud to have supported this initiative, which not only promotes legal education but also strengthens ties between legal institutions from different countries.

We also extend our thanks to the Seremban Court Director Tuan Darmafikri bin Abu Adam and his team for their cooperation and to the Faculty of Law, UKM, for involving us in this valuable exchange program.

We, as the committee of the Negeri Sembilan Bar, were honoured to be the first ever to have hosted in history to welcome students and professors from The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, India. This inaugural visit was made possible through a collaboration between the university and our Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). Prof Madya Dr Ramalinggam Rajamanickam from UKM who was also present .

The university is named after Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, a highly respected Indian jurist, economist, and social reformer. He was the chief architect of the Indian Constitution and a tireless advocate for social justice, particularly for the rights of the oppressed and marginalised communities in India. His legacy continues to inspire legal minds and human rights defenders around the world.
